Lit de camp on the North Shore!

Since 2021, RAP Côte-Nord is proud to offer day camps in the region a ready-to-use project that promotes the fun of reading in children aged between 5 and 12 years old. This project is offered while respecting the reality of each partner.

The ultimate goal of the project is to counteract the effects of the Summer slide. This phenomenon takes its name from the loss of academic knowledge that students often go through during school interruptions.

Initiated by the CRÉPAS in 2019, the Lit de camp program is now actively used in nine regions in Québec, all of which contribute to making the project even bigger, year after year.

Why should literacy be integrated in day camps?

Including literacy in day camp programs makes camp monitors become reading models, can even the playing field, and offers a fun environment, not related to school, to promote the fun of reading during the summer. Reading has many benefits for children.
